Volunteering at SPCA

Today was the first day that Mom and I volunteered at SPCA Singapore!

Just to reiterate, in case you didn't read the caption on the first photo...

Mom signed up for dog shelter helper and I signed up for cat/small animal shelter helper. Fun fact: Mom took this picture, and I'm actually cleaning out a cage after taking a cat out of it- so no kitties actually involved in this pic :)

I don't know why snapchat videos show up like this with the play button on the front! But this is Tia, she came in today and she was super playful. She wasn't used to being in a cage at all, she was constantly reaching out for us.

This cat and I were best friends and I never even got his name - bad friend alert.

The smell is a bit hard to get used to, but it was also shocking the first time I was here that it's all outside! No inside kennels with air con, this all had fresh air and fans. A bit hotter, but nicer for the animals.

Mom made a friend named Wiley, who stuck to her like glue. The staff member nearby joked that we almost had to surgically remove him from mom's lap, that's how much he loved Mom. Such a cutie

Here's my best friend again! He looks fake, but I promise he's real. It's all my mom's photo skills: getting kittens to look like perfect statues (except this kitten was crazy in his cage and then content to just sit up in my hand and walk around with me).

I'm in love with these pictures, what a cute puppy. Such a sweet dog, I hope he gets snatched up by a loving family soon!

Mom and Dad got me a more modern cat shirt for my birthday since all mine are a little... childish (fine, I admit it). But look at this one! Totally ready to bring on the mission! Just kidding! (not)

A Birthday in Singapore (19 on the 19th!)

I started my birthday off right by going to Universal. My mom had a PT appointment so she met me at Harbourfront station and we scootered over to Sentosa

We waited in line for Cylon for probably a half hour before they told us they had to shut down the ride for a while- super lame! At least we got to go on the Mummy ride and I got a churro :)

I can't stress enough how rarely we get taxis or uber cars, we use the public transportation far more often. However, when it's your birthday and it takes an hour to get to the next place... it doesn't hurt to splurge  once or twice

Both uber drivers showed us pictures and videos of their families on their phones. The second guy showed us a video of him racing motorcycles and it was total cheese. Sometimes you just gotta smile and nod and hope he doesn't notice that you're trying not to laugh :P

I LOVE my henna!! It was only S$12! I probably could have haggled the price lower, but I was fine with it. It was at the Little Indian Arcade, across the street from the Little India Hawker Centre.

The MacRitchie Reservoir hike is gorgeous! Definitely worth it, and the suspension bridge through the treetops provides such a gorgeous view. Also, ice milo at the end is a life saver.

And I made cinnamon rolls for the first time in my life! I kinda cheated though and had the bread machine make the dough and I did the rest. They turned out AMAZING. I keep trying to eat more than one a day and it makes me so sick (but sorta worth it)

A Youtube Star

It's gotten to the point where nothing really exciting is happening over here, so now I'm posting the most random things. So how about all the youtube videos I'm in that I know about? (In no particular order of course)

1. What Do Babies And Astronauts Have In Common?

It's not my fault I completely nailed those questions (sorry Harry for saying you make me puke :) ) I was just watching TV with a friend when these two guys came up to us with a fish and a camera and started filming. (All because I was having too much fun yelling "Hi!" at everyone that walked past)

2. Youtuber Whispers Game

Well only Bri is a youtuber, so this isn't really the youtuber challenge. But this was super fun! I remember regretting not doing my hair since of course all my friends looked all perfect. #classicLinda haha what can you do? I'm gonna miss these girls so much! (Hopefully Bri doesn't mind that I'm sharing her youtube channel)

3. Senior Prom 2014

Yeah most of these videos of me are on Bri's page, but I don't want to forget them!!

4.  Classic Abbie and Linda

This is basically the whole video: just us trying to contain ourselves in a photobooth after a sad movie

Illustrator is My Best Friend

I have 4 days left on my Illustrator trial, and I'm losing my mind. I need to have Illustrator forever.

Outdoor Movie & Dragon Boat Races

Here's a snapchat from my mom that I took a screenshot of and totally am using on my blog. I'm such a wonderful daughter! Mom heard about an outdoor movie on the lawn opposite Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion, apparently they were playing Harry Potter and the goblet of fire the night before, but we went to a dinner with the Deavers. They were playing How to Train Your Dragon 2 Saturday night, the night we would be there (everything was dragon themed for the dragon boat races)

One of the only problems with an inflatable movie screen in Singapore is the crazy wind that will pick up at random intervals. They had to stop the movie twice because the movie screen had completely collapsed on itself :)

I just had to include this picture! My phone has this weird mode where you can take two pictures at once, and since we were watching the dragon boat races...

The dragon boat races were so cool! They have a person in the back banging the drum to keep the rest of the paddlers motivated in each boat. I could do that job ;)

Gotta love late-night bus rides with the parents :) (but the MRT and buses stop running at midnight, so not too late, don't worry)

Universal Studios with Yillian!

Yeah... we thought we just braved the ride. Little did we know that we went on the easy half of the ride, and we wasted a moment when both halves were only at a 5 minute wait time. Definitely get to the park right when it opens and make a beeline for the rides. These lines fill up fast. Transformers will only be at a 5 minute wait for the first 15 minutes of the park, then it's never below 40 for the rest of the day. This is us after going on the red half of Battlestar Galactica.

This was a little pioneer cart ride opposite the Mummy ride, and it was similar to Autopia. You were in little cars and could steer them and press the gas, but they were on tracks. We were stuck in the back while a two year-old did the driving. It was painful. And for some reason the steering wheel was on the left?? That messed me up. In HK the steering wheels were on the right like normal.

If you go, get a churro. $4 of goodness, no tax (just keep telling yourself the no tax part). Yillian bought me another one at the end of the day because I was "being good" and also I was super out of money :)

They sold beer right next to the water bottles and assorted drinks! Not even a sit down restaurant! They encouraged parents to walk around with a yard of beer (basically a community reference, can't let that one slide). I think I was the only one, besides Yillian of course, that thought it was crazy.

When's the last time you had a grape slushie that tasted like grapes? Never? That's what I thought. Technically you could mix all the flavors if you wanted, it's a self-serve after you buy your cup.

Donkey's comedy show was pretty cute honestly, but I was a little scared he would make me stand up in front of the audience. I don't know how they did it! I think he must have had a camera and a microphone, but also they had to program donkey to move his mouth whenever the actor did. I definitely would love a behind the scenes on that.

The Enchanted Airways ride was pretty cute! Faster than I thought it would be, given what our seat restraints were, but it was a really quick ride. All these rides are really quick, they feel like they don't go on nearly as long as they do in the States.

As you can see, the blue section of the Battlestar Galactica is way more fun :).

Yeah these don't really need captions, we're just nerds.

World's best Dad, everyone! I couldn't have done it without all the support of my fans. This award has been a long time coming.

30 Rock! Now I don't even need to go to New York, this is basically the full experience right? I even got a slice of pizza across from here and it was pretty gross. I don't recommend the pizza at Universal

Don't tell my mom how scary the Cylon half of Battlestar Galactica is or she might not go :) I loved it! But Yillian wouldn't let me go more than once. Good thing I have a season pass >:)

Ummmm this show was hilarious. It was like one big community reference, but it was Water World instead of Lava World (yes, I know that Water World is a real movie)
